Student’s Set Sail from the Class Room

Providing financial support to Cranbourne West Primary’s Health and Physical Education program, Wolfdene recently supported a day of seaside education and fun at the Mornington Yacht Club.

More than 100 grade five and six students participated, many of whom experienced not only their first time on a sailing boat but their first time at the beach.

The students were paired in to teams to take on the sailing activities, kicking off with beach activities held by the fantastic CWPS teachers and volunteers.

Members of the Mornington Sailing club taught the eager students about a range of important sailing knowledge, from water safety to wearing a life jacket.

Throughout the day, students learnt about forces, motion and sustainability – these topics assisted their ‘Beyond our Backyard’ project which aims to delve deeper into the broader community outside of not only the school, but the suburb of Cranbourne.
