Yes, you heard it right, Fishing in the suburbs is now possible at Austin Lakes Estate for a one-off weekend fishing experience. The stunning 3 hectare lake at the estate was filled with hundreds of rainbow trout, giving the next generation of fishing enthusiasts an opportunity to safely freshwater fish.
Hundreds of first-timers had the joy of reeling in their first catch, making the inaugural “Fish in the burbs” event a successful day, one to remember for all.
From the 26th to the 28th of September six three-hour sessions were held with 150 people able to attend each session. Demand was through the roof with every session across the 3 days fully booked. A family friendly community was evident for all to see at Austin Lakes with hundreds of families coming together and enjoying what the Estate has to offer, making it the perfect place to raise a family or bring your grand kids
Once the eskies were full of fish, families walked over to enjoy the award winning Adventurescape Playground, picnic shelters, BBQ’s and local IGA at Austin Lakes Estate.
Dr Rowland CEO of Recfishwest said “The overwhelming success of Fish in the ‘Burbs event gives the green light to work on ramping up a suburban and urban freshwater stocking program”
“Fishing is a huge part of the WA lifestyle and everyone should be given the chance to catch a fish in a safe environment without necessarily having to venture off the beaten track,” he said.
We look forward to the next event at Austin Lakes Estate.
